A scan is not an e-Apostille

Nevada currently provides an online e-Register that can be used to verify issued apostilles. That verification record does not create a replacement document or turn a scanned paper packet into an electronically issued apostille.

• A PDF scan is a visual copy of the completed paper packet.
• An e-Register entry helps verify that an apostille was issued.
• An e-Apostille is a digitally signed electronic certificate issued by a competent authority as part of an electronic document file.

Confirm the translation requirements first

• Language: Confirm whether the recipient accepts the document in English or requires another language.
• Scope: Ask whether the underlying document, the apostille certificate, or the complete authenticated packet must be translated.
• Translator qualification: Determine whether the recipient requires a professional, certified, sworn, accredited, or locally approved translator.
• Authentication of the translation: Confirm whether a translator certification must be notarized, apostilled, or completed by an accepted authority in the destination country.

The Public Signature Determines the Route

Mixed Packets May Need More Than One Authority

One international packet can contain documents from several jurisdictions. Lake Mead Mobile Notary reviews the apparent source of each public signature, seal, or notarial certificate and separates the packet into the appropriate routes.

• Nevada records and Nevada notarial acts may qualify for Nevada processing when the document is otherwise ready.
• Other-state records and non-Nevada notarizations generally follow the competent authority for that state or territory.
• Federal records follow the applicable federal authority rather than a state apostille route.
