Nevada Court E-Filing Submission

Electronic Submission of Customer-Approved Court Documents

Lake Mead Mobile Notary coordinates electronic filing of final, customer-approved court documents through the filing system authorized for the selected Nevada court.

The service begins after the customer has selected the document, approved its substantive content, completed all required signatures, and supplied the information needed to create an accurate filing envelope.

Depending on the court and accepted scope, Lake Mead Mobile Notary may:

  • Identify the authorized electronic filing platform
  • Confirm whether the matter involves a new or existing case
  • Search for an existing case using customer-supplied information
  • Enter customer-supplied party and case information
  • Upload the final approved documents
  • Apply a customer-selected or administratively matched filing code
  • Organize lead documents and attachments
  • Enter a filing description
  • Enter customer-authorized service contacts
  • Select the customer-authorized filing and electronic-service option
  • Enter filing-fee or fee-waiver information
  • Obtain customer authorization for applicable charges
  • Review the completed filing envelope
  • Submit the authorized envelope
  • Preserve the submission receipt
  • Monitor available acceptance, rejection, or return notifications
  • Deliver available file-stamped copies or rejection information
  • Identify whether additional customer action is required

This is an administrative filing service. It does not include legal advice, selection of legal claims or defenses, legal research, attorney representation, deadline calculation, or a guarantee that the clerk or court will accept the document.

Court-Specific Filing Systems

Electronic filing is not administered through one universal process for every Nevada court.

The applicable filing route may depend on:

  • Court level
  • County
  • Township
  • Case type
  • Civil, family, probate, criminal, appellate, or municipal jurisdiction
  • New case versus existing case
  • Attorney versus self-represented filer
  • Filing platform
  • Local administrative order
  • Court rule
  • Judicial department
  • Confidentiality status
  • Document type
  • Whether an original must be delivered separately

Nevada replaced its statewide Electronic Filing and Conversion Rules through ADKT 0615, with the replacement rules becoming effective in July 2024. The current statewide rules must be considered together with the local court’s filing system, administrative orders, and document instructions.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary verifies the filing channel for the accepted matter rather than assuming that a process used in one Nevada court applies to another.

Eighth Judicial District Court E-Filing

The Eighth Judicial District Court currently uses Odyssey File & Serve for online filing and service. Its electronic system permits users to locate an existing case by case number or party information and then begin the filing process.

A standard Eighth Judicial District Court filing may require:

  • Correct court location
  • Correct case type
  • Existing case search or new-case initiation
  • Complete party information
  • Correct lead document
  • Correct filing code
  • Filing description
  • Supporting attachments
  • Service-contact information
  • Filing or optional-service charges
  • Payment authorization
  • Final envelope review
  • Customer authorization to submit

The filing cannot be completed accurately without enough information to distinguish the correct court, case, party, document, and filing event.

Las Vegas Justice Court Civil E-Filing

Las Vegas Justice Court currently requires electronic filing for its civil case types. The court provides access to File & Serve and also maintains public scanning stations at the Clerk’s Office for court users who need to submit documents electronically.

Las Vegas Justice Court also states that an email address is required to receive the file-stamped copy associated with the electronic filing.

A Las Vegas Justice Court civil filing may therefore require:

  • A valid email address
  • Correct civil case type
  • Correct filing code
  • Proper PDF files
  • Party and case information
  • Filing-fee or waiver information
  • Payment authorization
  • Electronic-service information when applicable
  • Review of the resulting notice or file-stamped copy

A filing involving another justice court must be reviewed against that court’s own filing channel and procedures.

Initial Filings and Subsequent Filings

An initial filing begins a new court case.

A subsequent filing adds a document to an existing case.

These are different workflows.

Initial filing

An initial filing may require:

  • Selection of the correct court and case category
  • Entry of all parties
  • Party roles
  • Plaintiff, petitioner, applicant, defendant, respondent, or other designations
  • Case-opening document
  • Civil or family cover sheet
  • Summons or issuance request
  • Filing-fee selection
  • Fee-waiver application
  • Additional supporting documents
  • Customer contact information
  • Service information
  • Court-specific case-initiation data

Subsequent filing

A subsequent filing may require:

  • Existing case number
  • Correct court location
  • Verification of the displayed case caption
  • Correct party association
  • Filing code
  • Document description
  • Lead document
  • Attachments
  • Service contacts
  • Filing-fee selection when applicable
  • Hearing or department information
  • Reference to an earlier filing or order

The Eighth Judicial District Court’s current instructions direct users filing into an existing case to select the court location, search by case number or party information, verify the case, and then choose the filing action.

New-Case Filing Requires Expanded Review

A new case generally requires more information than a routine filing into an existing matter.

Before an initial filing is accepted, the customer may need to provide:

  • Correct court
  • Correct case type
  • Jurisdiction and venue selection
  • Complete party names
  • Party designations
  • Addresses or contact information
  • Complaint, petition, application, or other initiating document
  • Cover sheet
  • Summons or citation
  • Confidential-information form
  • Fee-waiver documents
  • Filing-fee instructions
  • Issuance instructions
  • Service-of-process plan
  • Customer authorization to open the case

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not determine whether the customer should start a case, which court has jurisdiction, which parties must be named, or which cause of action should be filed.

Those decisions must come from the customer, an attorney, an official court packet, a court self-help center, or another qualified source.

Filing Into an Existing Case

A standard subsequent filing may be appropriate when the customer provides:

  • Court name
  • Court location
  • Case number
  • Current case caption
  • Customer’s party designation
  • Final signed document
  • Filing code or enough information to identify an administrative match
  • Attachments
  • Filing-fee instructions
  • Service-contact instructions
  • Deadline supplied by the customer
  • Final submission authorization

Lake Mead Mobile Notary verifies that the electronic case result appears consistent with the customer’s information before uploading documents.

We do not resolve conflicting case records, determine whether a similarly named case is the correct matter, or choose between several possible cases without customer confirmation.

Filing Codes and Document Descriptions

Electronic filing systems use filing codes or event codes to classify submitted documents.

The code may affect:

  • How the filing appears on the docket
  • Which fee is charged
  • Whether the document is routed for issuance
  • Whether an optional service must be selected
  • How the clerk reviews the filing
  • Whether the filing is connected with another submitted document
  • Whether a first-appearance charge may apply

The Eighth Judicial District Court publishes civil filing codes and provides platform instructions addressing filing-code and optional-service selection.

The customer should provide the selected filing code when it has been supplied by an attorney, court instruction, rejection notice, or official packet.

When the code is not supplied, Lake Mead Mobile Notary may attempt an administrative match based on the final document title and current court list. If more than one code appears plausible or the selection would require a legal characterization, customer or professional confirmation is required before submission.

Lead Documents and Attachments

The customer must identify which document is the lead filing and which documents are attachments or supporting materials.

Depending on the filing, the package may contain:

  • Motion
  • Petition
  • Complaint
  • Answer
  • Opposition
  • Reply
  • Declaration
  • Affidavit
  • Proposed order
  • Exhibit packet
  • Proof of service
  • Cover sheet
  • Summons
  • Confidential-information form
  • Fee-waiver application
  • Supporting memorandum
  • Other customer-selected document

For the Eighth Judicial District Court, the current File & Serve guidance states that uploaded documents must be PDFs and ordinarily directs attachments to be combined with the main document. When exhibits are filed separately, the court instructs filers to use a caption page with a descriptive title that connects the exhibit filing to the related pleading.

Court-Ready PDF Formatting or Exhibit Assembly and PDF Preparation may be required before e-filing when the supplied documents do not meet the accepted file structure.

Final Filing-Ready Documents

The standard submission service assumes that the customer provides final filing-ready documents.

Each document should ordinarily be:

  • Complete
  • Legible
  • Correctly oriented
  • In the required file format
  • Properly titled
  • Signed where required
  • Dated where required
  • Free from draft comments
  • Free from unresolved blanks
  • Free from track changes
  • Free from unintended highlighting
  • Properly redacted
  • Properly separated or combined
  • Within applicable file-size restrictions
  • Approved by the customer

E-filing does not include substantive document preparation unless another preparation service has been expressly added.

Electronic Signatures and Wet Signatures

The customer must confirm that the document has been executed through the procedure required for that filing.

Depending on the document and court, the filing may involve:

  • Electronic signature
  • Typed signature notation
  • Scanned wet-ink signature
  • Original wet-signed document retained by the filer
  • Notarized signature
  • Witnessed signature
  • Attorney signature
  • Self-represented party signature
  • Clerk or judicial signature
  • Representative-capacity signature

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not decide whether a particular signature format is legally sufficient when the governing rule, form, or court instruction is unclear.

A document that requires notarization, witnessing, or an original signature must complete that process before submission.

Filing Fees and Payment Authorization

Court charges, platform charges, issuance charges, optional-service charges, certification charges, and other outside costs are separate from the Lake Mead Mobile Notary service charge.

Before submission, the customer may need to authorize:

  • Court filing charge
  • First-appearance charge
  • Case-initiation charge
  • Issuance charge
  • Jury-demand charge
  • Optional filing service
  • Filing-platform charge
  • Electronic-service charge
  • Payment-processing charge
  • Another court-required cost

The selected filing code can affect the charges generated by the platform.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary will not knowingly submit a chargeable filing without the required payment authorization.

Fee-Waiver Matters

A customer who cannot pay the required court charges may be eligible to request a waiver or permission to proceed without prepayment, depending on the court and matter.

The fee-waiver request is a separate court document and may require:

  • Application
  • Financial disclosure
  • Declaration
  • Supporting information
  • Proposed order
  • Judicial review
  • Clerk instructions
  • Filing before or with the underlying document

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not determine whether a customer qualifies for a waiver or whether the court will grant the request.

The waiver documents must be complete and approved before the filing envelope is submitted.

Electronic Service

Some filing platforms allow documents to be electronically served on service contacts associated with the case.

Electronic filing and electronic service are related but not identical.

The customer must identify:

  • Whether electronic service is requested
  • Which parties or attorneys should receive service
  • Whether those people are registered service contacts
  • Which customer contact should be associated with the party
  • Whether the filing should be submitted as filing only, filing and service, or service only
  • Whether another form of service is also required

The Eighth Judicial District Court’s current File & Serve instructions permit eligible service contacts to be associated with parties and explain that electronic service cannot be completed through the platform for opposing counsel who has not been added as an available service contact.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not assume that electronic platform service satisfies every formal service requirement.

Formal Service of Process Is Separate

Initiating documents and certain later filings may require personal service, substitute service, certified mail, publication, sheriff service, constable service, or another legally permitted method.

Uploading a document to an e-filing platform does not automatically establish that formal service of process has occurred.

The customer remains responsible for determining:

  • Whether service is required
  • Who must be served
  • Which documents must be served
  • Permitted service method
  • Service deadline
  • Whether a summons must be issued
  • Whether proof of service must be filed
  • Whether electronic service is legally sufficient

Process-Service Coordination is separate unless expressly included.

Confidential and Sealed Documents

Documents containing confidential, restricted, or sealed information require special review.

Examples may include:

  • Sealed court records
  • Medical records
  • Minor children’s information
  • Protected-person information
  • Financial account information
  • Social Security numbers
  • Domestic-violence records
  • Adoption materials
  • Confidential business records
  • Privileged material
  • Records governed by a protective order

The Eighth Judicial District Court’s current File & Serve guidance states that documents intended to be filed under seal must still be presented at the clerk’s counter, even though filings into an already sealed case may be eligible for electronic submission.

A sealed or confidential filing may therefore require physical filing, a separate motion or order, restricted filing settings, or other court-specific handling.

Redaction

The customer must review all documents for information that should be redacted or filed confidentially.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not independently decide:

  • What information is protected
  • Whether a document should be sealed
  • Whether initials may replace a full name
  • Whether a confidential-information form is required
  • Whether a public and confidential version must be filed
  • Whether an account number may remain visible
  • Whether a court order is needed

Advanced redaction, preparation of separate versions, or sealing-related document work requires a separate scope.

Submission Authorization

No filing should be submitted until the customer has approved:

  • Court
  • Case
  • Filing type
  • Filing code
  • Final documents
  • Attachments
  • Filing description
  • Parties
  • Service contacts
  • Filing or service option
  • Outside charges
  • Payment method
  • Confidentiality treatment
  • Submission timing

Authorization should be recorded before the final submission action.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary may prepare a draft filing envelope for review, but a draft envelope is not a filed document.

Submission Versus Acceptance

Electronic submission does not necessarily mean that the court has accepted the filing.

After submission, a filing may be:

  • Received by the platform
  • Pending clerk review
  • Accepted
  • Partially accepted
  • Returned
  • Rejected
  • Cancelled
  • Awaiting payment
  • Awaiting correction
  • Associated with an issuance request
  • Assigned a case number
  • Assigned a file stamp
  • Routed for judicial review

The Eighth Judicial District Court’s File & Serve system provides filing-activity folders and permits a returned or rejected envelope to be copied for correction and resubmission.

A platform confirmation should not be described as final court acceptance until the available filing status supports that conclusion.

Filing Receipts and File-Stamped Copies

Depending on the court and system, completion records may include:

  • Envelope number
  • Submission receipt
  • Date and time transmitted
  • Payment receipt
  • Acceptance notice
  • Rejection notice
  • File-stamped document
  • Case number
  • Docket entry
  • Issued summons or other issued document
  • Electronic-service transmission log
  • Clerk comment
  • Return notice

Lake Mead Mobile Notary provides the records available within the accepted scope.

Las Vegas Justice Court states that an email address is needed to receive a file-stamped copy of an electronic filing.

File-Stamped Copy Pickup is a separate service when an electronic copy is unavailable and physical retrieval is required.

Rejected or Returned Filings

A rejection does not automatically mean that Lake Mead Mobile Notary made a technical error.

A filing may be returned because of:

  • Incorrect filing code
  • Incorrect case
  • Missing signature
  • Missing attachment
  • Missing cover sheet
  • Missing verification
  • Missing fee-waiver document
  • Filing-fee issue
  • Service-contact problem
  • Confidentiality issue
  • File-format issue
  • Substantive document deficiency
  • Missing court order
  • Missing issuance request
  • Incomplete party information
  • Deadline issue
  • Court-specific requirement
  • Another clerk-review concern

The rejection notice must be reviewed before correction.

Technical Filing-Rejection Correction is a separate service when the required work falls outside the ordinary original submission scope.

What the Standard Submission Scope May Include

The confirmed standard scope may include:

  • Review of one routine filing request
  • Confirmation of court and filing platform
  • Confirmation of new or existing case
  • Review of customer-supplied case information
  • Review of final approved PDF documents
  • Review of apparent signatures
  • Identification of lead document and attachments
  • Entry of customer-supplied party information
  • Entry of the existing case number
  • Administrative filing-code match when unambiguous
  • Entry of filing description
  • Entry of customer-authorized service contacts
  • Entry of customer-authorized filing or service option
  • Entry of customer-supplied fee or waiver information
  • Review of generated outside charges
  • Customer payment authorization
  • Draft-envelope quality review
  • Final customer submission authorization
  • One routine electronic submission
  • Preservation of available receipt
  • Routine status monitoring
  • Delivery of available acceptance, file-stamped, or rejection records
  • Identification of apparent next administrative action

The standard scope does not include substantive document preparation, attorney review, legal deadline calculation, advanced PDF repair, extensive exhibit assembly, process service, physical filing, sealed-document delivery, court appearance, or unlimited rejection correction unless expressly included.

Information the Customer Should Provide

Before submission begins, provide:

  • Full legal name
  • Mailing address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Court name
  • Court location
  • County or township
  • Case type
  • New-case or existing-case status
  • Existing case number
  • Current case caption
  • Department number when applicable
  • Customer’s party designation
  • Names of all filing parties
  • Final lead document
  • Final attachments
  • Customer-selected filing code when known
  • Filing description
  • Signature information
  • Filing deadline supplied by the customer
  • Hearing information
  • Filing-fee or waiver instructions
  • Payment authorization
  • Service-contact information
  • Electronic-service instructions
  • Formal service-of-process plan when applicable
  • Confidentiality or sealing instructions
  • Existing sealing order
  • Court rejection notice when applicable
  • Attorney, court, self-help, or agency instructions
  • Requested status-notification recipients
  • Final authorization to submit

The customer should provide the complete final packet before the electronic filing is created.

How the Service Works

1. Submit the Final Filing Packet

The customer provides the court, case, party, document, service, fee, confidentiality, and deadline information together with the final approved filing documents.

2. Court and Filing-Route Review

Lake Mead Mobile Notary verifies:

  • Correct court
  • Court location
  • Available filing platform
  • New or existing case
  • Case-number information
  • Filing type
  • Document format
  • Filing-code information
  • Service options
  • Fee or waiver route
  • Sealed or confidential handling
  • Requested submission deadline
  • Whether the matter fits the standard electronic filing service

A physical filing or specialized service may be required when the court or document is not eligible for ordinary electronic submission.

3. Document and Envelope Review

The filing packet is reviewed for apparent administrative readiness, including:

  • Correct final version
  • PDF format when required
  • Apparent signature completion
  • Page orientation
  • Lead document
  • Attachments
  • File names
  • Filing code
  • Filing description
  • Party information
  • Service contacts
  • Payment information
  • Confidentiality instructions

This review does not determine substantive legal sufficiency.

4. Customer Authorization

The customer receives or confirms the final submission information, including:

  • Court and case
  • Filing documents
  • Filing code
  • Filing description
  • Service selection
  • Generated outside charges
  • Payment authorization
  • Submission timing

The envelope is not submitted until final authorization is recorded.

5. Electronic Submission

The authorized filing is transmitted through the verified court platform.

The available receipt, envelope information, and submission status are preserved.

6. Status Monitoring and Completion

Lake Mead Mobile Notary monitors the available filing status within the confirmed scope and provides:

  • Submission confirmation
  • Acceptance notice
  • Rejection or return notice
  • File-stamped document when available
  • Case or instrument information generated by the court
  • Clerk comments
  • Electronic-service status when included
  • Notice that additional action is required

A materially rejected filing may require Technical Filing-Rejection Correction or another preparation service.

Before You Start

The Document Must Be Final

E-filing should not begin with an unfinished draft.

The customer should confirm that each document is:

  • Complete
  • Reviewed
  • Approved
  • Signed where required
  • Dated where required
  • Properly notarized when applicable
  • Free from unresolved blanks
  • Free from comments
  • Free from track changes
  • Free from placeholder language
  • Free from conflicting versions
  • Accompanied by every required attachment

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not choose among several conflicting substantive drafts without customer confirmation.

You Must Select the Document and Legal Position

The submission service does not determine:

  • Which document should be filed
  • Which claim should be asserted
  • Which defense should be raised
  • Which relief should be requested
  • Which party should be named
  • Which court has jurisdiction
  • Whether a filing is legally advisable
  • Whether the customer should start or continue a case
  • Whether the document is likely to succeed

The customer must make those decisions or obtain them from an attorney, court self-help center, official form packet, or another qualified source.

Confirm the Correct Court

A document can be technically complete and still be filed in the wrong court.

The customer must identify the correct:

  • Court level
  • County
  • Township
  • Division
  • Court location
  • Case type
  • Department
  • Filing platform
  • Filing route

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not determine jurisdiction or venue when those issues are uncertain.

Confirm Whether the Filing Starts a New Case

The customer must state whether the document:

  • Starts a new case
  • Is filed in an existing case
  • Reopens a closed case
  • Requests issuance
  • Responds to an existing filing
  • Is submitted after service
  • Is associated with an appeal
  • Is connected with a transferred case
  • Is filed in a sealed matter
  • Is intended only for service and not filing

Different workflows, fees, party information, codes, and attachments may apply.

Existing Case Information Must Match

For an existing case, provide a recent file-stamped document or court record showing:

  • Court
  • Case number
  • Caption
  • Party names
  • Party designations
  • Department
  • Relevant filing history when necessary

Do not rely solely on memory.

A wrong digit, suffix, court location, or party selection can direct the filing to the wrong matter.

Filing Codes Must Be Confirmed

The filing code classifies the electronic submission.

When more than one code appears possible, the filing should not proceed until the customer, court instruction, attorney, or other qualified source confirms the intended selection.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary may perform an administrative match when the document title and official code are clear. We do not make a disputed legal classification.

PDF Formatting May Be Required First

The Eighth Judicial District Court currently requires PDF documents for File & Serve. It also instructs filers to combine ordinary attachments with the main document or use a separately captioned exhibit filing when appropriate.

A filing may require additional work when the supplied files are:

  • Word documents
  • Image files
  • Password protected
  • Corrupted
  • Too large
  • Incorrectly oriented
  • Missing page numbers
  • Missing captions
  • Improperly separated
  • Improperly combined
  • Unsearchable
  • Illegible
  • Containing active comments or markup

Court-Ready PDF Formatting or Exhibit Assembly may need to be added before submission.

Attachments Must Be Identified

The customer must identify:

  • Lead document
  • Supporting declaration
  • Exhibits
  • Proposed order
  • Cover sheet
  • Summons
  • Fee-waiver documents
  • Proof of service
  • Confidential-information form
  • Other attachments

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not decide which substantive attachments are legally required.

Signatures Must Be Complete

The customer should confirm:

  • Who must sign
  • Which signature format is permitted
  • Whether a wet signature is required
  • Whether the original must be retained
  • Whether notarization is required
  • Whether witnesses are required
  • Whether an attorney signature is required
  • Whether a representative capacity must be stated
  • Whether a proposed order remains unsigned for the judge
  • Whether a summons or issuance document requires the requesting party’s signature

An uploaded unsigned document may be rejected or may fail to accomplish the intended purpose.

Filing Does Not Complete Formal Service

Electronic service may be available through the platform for registered service contacts, but it does not automatically replace every required service method.

The customer must determine whether the matter also requires:

  • Personal service
  • Substitute service
  • Service by mail
  • Certified mail
  • Publication
  • Sheriff or constable service
  • Process server
  • Service on an attorney
  • Service on an agency
  • Proof or certificate of service
  • Court authorization for an alternative method

Process-Service Coordination is separate.

Service Contacts Must Be Accurate

Incorrect service-contact information can direct notices or documents to the wrong person.

The customer should confirm:

  • Contact name
  • Email address
  • Party represented
  • Whether the contact is already associated with the case
  • Whether electronic service is authorized
  • Whether another service method is required
  • Who should receive filing-status notices

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not assume that every visible contact should be served.

Deadlines Remain the Customer’s Responsibility

The customer must provide the filing deadline.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not independently calculate deadlines arising from:

  • Statute
  • Court rule
  • Service date
  • Summons
  • Hearing notice
  • Clerk notice
  • Court order
  • Discovery request
  • Judgment
  • Appeal
  • Administrative order
  • Settlement agreement
  • Another filing

Electronic access does not guarantee that a last-minute filing can be safely reviewed, corrected, authorized, transmitted, and accepted before a deadline.

Submission Time Is Not Acceptance Time

A platform may record when an envelope was transmitted, but the clerk may review the filing later.

The filing may still be:

  • Accepted
  • Returned
  • Rejected
  • Partially accepted
  • Awaiting payment
  • Awaiting correction
  • Routed for judicial action

The customer should not represent the filing as accepted until the available court status confirms acceptance.

Filing Fees Are Separate

The Display Price covers the Lake Mead Mobile Notary administrative service.

It does not include:

  • Court filing charges
  • Case-opening charges
  • Appearance charges
  • Platform charges
  • Electronic-service charges
  • Optional-service charges
  • Issuance charges
  • Jury-demand charges
  • Certification charges
  • Payment-processing charges
  • Other third-party costs

Payment authorization is required before submission of a chargeable envelope.

Fee Waiver Is Not Automatic

A customer who cannot pay the court charge must complete the appropriate fee-waiver process.

Lake Mead Mobile Notary does not:

  • Determine eligibility
  • Guarantee approval
  • Complete missing financial decisions
  • Advise how assets or income should be characterized
  • Represent the customer in a fee-waiver dispute

A rejected or denied waiver may delay the underlying filing or require payment.

Confidential Information Must Be Reviewed

Before submission, review every page for information such as:

  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Financial account number
  • Medical information
  • Minor child information
  • Home address
  • Protected-person information
  • Tax information
  • Employment identification
  • Confidential business information
  • Sealed records
  • Privileged communications

The customer must supply the applicable redaction or confidential-filing instruction.

Sealed Documents May Require Physical Delivery

The Eighth Judicial District Court’s current instructions distinguish between filing into a sealed case and filing a document under seal. Documents intended to be filed under seal are directed to the clerk’s counter.

A matter involving a sealed document may therefore require:

  • Physical Court Filing
  • Original Document Delivery
  • Sealing order
  • Motion to seal
  • Public and confidential versions
  • Specialized packet preparation
  • Clerk-counter submission

The standard electronic submission service should not be used when the verified filing route requires physical delivery.

Original Documents May Require Separate Delivery

Some documents may require preservation or later delivery of an original, including:

  • Original will
  • Original bond
  • Original issued certificate
  • Original notarized instrument
  • Original evidence
  • Original court-required undertaking
  • Another document specifically required in physical form

Uploading a scan does not necessarily satisfy an original-document requirement.

Original Document Delivery or Physical Court Filing is separate unless included.

Issuance Requests Require Special Review

Documents submitted for clerk issuance may require special codes, signatures, attachments, or filing sequences.

Examples may include:

  • Summons
  • Writ
  • Citation
  • Subpoena
  • Letters
  • Clerk’s default
  • Commission
  • Other issued document

The Eighth Judicial District Court publishes specific File & Serve instructions for several issuance categories.

An issuance request should not be treated as an ordinary upload without verifying the current court instructions.

Rejected Filings Require Review Before Resubmission

Do not resubmit a rejected envelope without reading the clerk’s return information.

The correction may require:

  • Different filing code
  • New signature
  • New notarial act
  • Missing attachment
  • Corrected caption
  • Different PDF structure
  • Additional fee
  • Fee-waiver document
  • New court form
  • Additional party information
  • Confidential filing procedure
  • Physical submission
  • Substantive document revision
  • Attorney or self-help review

Technical Filing-Rejection Correction is the next separate service in the catalog.

One Submission Does Not Include Unlimited Filings

The standard service assumes one routine filing envelope within the confirmed scope.

Additional charges or services may apply when the customer requests:

  • Additional filing in the same case
  • Filing in another case
  • Filing in another court
  • New-case initiation plus later filings
  • Multiple unrelated lead documents
  • Multiple service groups
  • Repeated rejected submissions
  • Extensive status monitoring
  • New documents supplied after authorization
  • Changed filing instructions
  • Separate sealed or physical filing
  • Urgent after-hours handling

The exact scope should be confirmed before payment and submission.

Separate Services and Third-Party Costs

The standard e-filing submission scope does not include:

  • Legal advice
  • Attorney review
  • Legal research
  • Selection of the legal document
  • Selection of claims or defenses
  • Jurisdiction or venue analysis
  • Deadline calculation
  • Substantive document preparation
  • Court Document Typing
  • Court-Ready PDF Formatting
  • Exhibit Assembly and PDF Preparation
  • Advanced redaction
  • Translation
  • Certified translation
  • Notarial acts
  • Witness services
  • Formal service of process
  • Process-server charges
  • Certified-mail preparation
  • Physical courthouse filing
  • Sealed-document delivery
  • Original-document delivery
  • Court appearance
  • Filing-platform charges
  • Court charges
  • Issuance charges
  • Electronic-service charges

  • That the correct court was selected when jurisdiction is uncertain
  • That the document is substantively sufficient
  • That every attachment was supplied
  • That a signature satisfies the applicable rule
  • That electronic service satisfies formal service requirements
  • That the court will waive a charge
  • That a sealed document is eligible for electronic submission
  • That the platform will remain available
  • That the clerk will accept the filing
  • That the filing will be considered timely
  • That the court will issue a requested summons, writ, citation, or other document
  • That a judge will grant the requested relief
  • That the customer will prevail
  • That additional filings, corrections, service, payments, or professional assistance will not be required

The customer remains responsible for the selected document, substantive content, court and case information, filing decision, deadlines, service obligations, confidentiality instructions, charges, and final authorization.
